V4YS Album Review - The Soul Snatchers - Scratch My Itch (Social Beats - Unique Records)

The Soul Snatchers are a Dutch soul/funk combo that truly made a name for itself in 2008 with their first thrilling LP Sniffin' and Snatchin'.
They're now back with Scratch My Itch, a sophomore album that once again feels like a vibrant tribute to the golden era of 60's/70's Soul.

Led by the ubiquitous Hammond keyboard of Bas Iijtdewilligen, the band's old-school instruments line-up also features a raging horns section and Ron Smith's ultra-funky electric guitar. Add to this the energy of singers Curtis T. and guest Jimi Bellmartin, and you get a tasty cocktail that should have you think Stax sounds or JB's flava.

If The Soul Snatchers do not open brand new musical doors, they nevertheless take a remarkable care of Soul music roots, making sure they still thrive to rejoice and inspire us. Not to be missed live if their upcoming tour brings them anywhere near you !

Below you'll find a video teaser and short extracts of the whole album :
